Cardiac arrest emergency
According to information from E Hospital ( Hanoi ), while working out at the gym, a young man suddenly collapsed and lost consciousness due to cardiac arrest. The gym staff performed CPR and called 115 for emergency help.
After 15 minutes, the 115 emergency staff arrived at the scene and continued to perform CPR and defibrillation on the victim three times, causing his heart to beat again. Immediately, the patient was transferred to the Emergency Department, Hospital E at 2:50 p.m. on July 29.

The patient was brought to the emergency room in a deep coma, dilated pupils..., and was quickly treated: intubated, put on a ventilator, given sedatives, anti-cerebral edema drugs, and transferred to the hospital's Department of Internal Medicine Intensive Care and Anti-Poisoning for treatment.
Before the patient arrived at the hospital, upon receiving a report from the 115 emergency staff about the patient needing emergency care, Hospital E activated the "red alert" procedure throughout the hospital with the participation of many doctors from specialties such as emergency, cardiology, intensive care... ready to receive emergency care.
After 1 week of treatment, the patient is now out of danger, has been weaned off the ventilator and is gradually regaining consciousness.
"To achieve maximum treatment effectiveness, first aid and cardiac arrest at the scene of the incident is extremely important. Fortunately, this patient received early emergency care, the time of cardiac arrest before being admitted to the hospital was short and cardiopulmonary resuscitation was immediate, so the patient recovered relatively well," said Dr. Nguyen Thi Ly, Department of Internal Medicine Intensive Care and Anti-Poisoning, Hospital E.
Screening for potential risks
Participating in the consultation for the patient, Dr. Vu Van Ba (Cardiovascular Center, E Hospital) assessed that the cardiologist thought of the possibility that the patient had a dangerous ventricular arrhythmia causing sudden cardiac arrest. This is an arrhythmia found in patients with cardiac arrest without finding a clear cause of heart structure, coronary artery disease or metabolic disease after completing all tests and diagnostic imaging.
Although it is called "idiopathic", in fact, medicine has identified a number of underlying mechanisms and factors involved. Among them, some dangerous arrhythmias that have no previous symptoms but are the cause of cardiac arrest include Brugada syndrome, long QT syndrome, early repolarization syndrome, or right ventricular cardiomyopathy...
"These causes can only be detected early through cardiovascular screening ," Dr. Ba added.
Doctors advise that sudden cardiac arrest can occur at any age and in any gender. Although physical activity is necessary, depending on each age and health condition, appropriate exercise methods must be applied, and exercise should not be too strenuous.
In particular, when there are signs of chest pain lasting more than 10 - 15 minutes, pain causing respiratory arrest..., you need to immediately go to a cardiovascular center with adequate equipment and human resources for treatment.
