Village elder Hien Hon (62 years old, in village 56A, Dac Pre commune, Nam Giang district) said: Since ancient times, the Ve people have taken advantage of their free time to weave their own fabrics. The Ve people's weaving looms are quite rudimentary, only able to weave narrow fabrics. The people usually plant cotton in May and harvest in October. After harvesting, the cotton is dried and fluffed, then spun into thread and dyed before being woven into clothing products. With their skillful hands, Ve women have created traditional costumes and shawls with unique patterns and colors...
The Ve people in Quang Nam still preserve traditional costumes with many different types such as skirts, shirts, loincloths, jackets, scarves, hats, leggings... Ve girls have a fresh, healthy beauty, often with long hair, wrapped behind the neck. When wearing their ethnic costumes to participate in festivals and traditional weddings, they combine beauty with many types of jewelry such as silver and copper bracelets, beads, earrings... Ve women's skirts are made from two pieces of cotton fabric, sewn together in width and then sewn together into a tube shape. The skirt background is indigo black, with decorative patterns combining the two main colors of red and white, in addition to other colors such as indigo, yellow, blue. Skirts used in festivals are often decorated with beautiful patterns. For Ve girls, when wearing them, they often wrap their skirts high up to their armpits, covering their chests and leaving their shoulders bare. Older women often dress more modestly with dresses that have sleeves, collars, and cover their shoulders. The most unique feature of the traditional costumes of the Ve people is that both men and women wear a coat, a type of wrap-around garment that bears an ancient mark.

Nowadays, the process of economic development as well as integration in life has significantly affected the traditional costumes of the Ve people in particular and ethnic minorities in general. Therefore, in daily life and in production, Ve women dress simply, but on traditional festivals, holidays, Tet... they are very proud to wear their traditional costumes as the best way to preserve and maintain the unique indigenous cultural identities of the Ve people.
