“As a major brand and a new strategic partner of FIFA, Netflix has demonstrated a strong investment in the development of women's football,” FIFA President Gianni Infantino said in a statement.

"Netflix will not only broadcast the tournaments but also act as an important bridge, bringing women's football closer to millions of viewers, contributing to the resounding success of both World Cups," he added.

The 2027 Women's World Cup will be held in Brazil from June 24 to July 25, marking the first time the event will be held in South America.

In addition to live coverage of the matches, Netflix will produce a series of documentaries ahead of the two tournaments.

The deal is part of Netflix's expansion strategy into sports, as the company looks to build a library of exclusive content that viewers can't find anywhere else.
