Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu said that the situation in the war zone in Ukraine is not favorable for Kyiv and the West should accept this reality to negotiate an end to the conflict.

Ukrainian officials announced on November 7 that Russian attacks across the country within 24 hours had killed two people and injured 13, according to The Kyiv Independent . In the capital Kyiv, sirens sounded for eight hours, and air defense forces shot down more than 30 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that it had captured the village of Kreminna Balka in the Donetsk region in eastern Ukraine.

Conflict Point: Trump wins, what scenario for Ukraine and Israel?

On the same day, Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu said that the situation in the war zone in Ukraine is not favorable for Kyiv and the West should accept this reality to negotiate an end to the conflict, according to Reuters. "The West is facing a choice: continue to finance Kyiv and destroy the Ukrainian population or recognize reality and start negotiations," the former Russian defense minister said at a meeting in Moscow.

Observers say the two-and-a-half-year conflict may be in its final stages, with Russia advancing rapidly in eastern Ukraine since August and Donald Trump re-elected as US president. During the campaign, Trump said he would end the conflict within 24 hours if elected but did not elaborate on his plans.

Meanwhile, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on November 6 that it could not be done overnight, but affirmed that the US was fully capable of contributing to ending the war. "Whether this will happen or not, we will see after January," Mr. Peskov said, referring to the time of the US president's inauguration.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said yesterday that he had called and congratulated Mr. Trump on his "historic victory," adding that the two sides agreed to maintain dialogue and increase cooperation. Meanwhile, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal expressed hope for "clear and swift" actions from the new US leader, and was optimistic about Washington's support under the new administration. However, Politico reported that President Joe Biden's administration plans to rush billions of dollars in military aid to Ukraine before the transfer of power because of concerns that his successor will stop supporting him. However, the White House has not responded to the above information.
