Nghe An: Determined to build Cua Lo worthy of the title "The first coastal tourist city of the country"

Cua Lo (Nghe An) is rated by the United Nations Tourism Organization as one of the most ideal beaches in Vietnam: With a length of over 10 km, surrounded by two rivers at both ends, a gentle slope, clear blue sea water, moderate waves, and suitable salinity are characteristics that not every beach has.

Cua Lo has a fairly developed infrastructure system. Cua Lo’s transportation system is quite synchronous and modern, connected to national and international transportation via road, air, waterway, etc.

Currently, Cua Lo has about 300 accommodation establishments, with nearly 12,500 rooms, capable of accommodating over 30,000 guests per day and night; including many high-class hotels and resorts that are qualified to organize large-scale, international events such as: Vinpearl Melia Cua Hoi Resort , Muong Thanh Grand Cua Lo Hotel, Saigon-Kim Lien Hotel, Summer Hotel, Lan Chau Luxury Hotel... Cua Lo has more than 200 restaurants with a variety of seafood dishes that always meet all the needs of tourists. In particular, Cua Lo has Vin Wonder Cua Hoi Entertainment Area and a cable car system to Ngu Island with hundreds of exciting games, creating an ideal destination for tourists.

After the Covid 19 pandemic, Cua Lo tourism recovered quickly and developed strongly, welcoming over 4 million visitors each year and revenue from tourism activities reaching over 4,000 billion VND.

In 2014, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the town's establishment, Cua Lo was honored to receive the Prime Minister's Decision No. 2355/QD-TTg dated December 25, 2014 recognizing it as a coastal tourist city - this is the first coastal tourist city to be recognized nationwide; it is the pride of Nghe An people in general and Cua Lo in particular. However, compared to its potential and achievements, Cua Lo tourism still has many difficulties and limitations such as high seasonality, tourism activities mainly take place in the 3 summer months and the number of visitors concentrates on weekends, causing many difficulties for state management as well as tourism service business activities. The efficiency and effectiveness of tourism exploitation are not high; the quality of infrastructure, services, and labor resources have not yet met the requirements. In addition, state management in areas such as urban order, environmental sanitation, prices, quality of goods and services for tourism, jet skiing, hybrid vehicles, 4-wheel electric vehicles, beggars, street vendors, etc. are not really drastic and systematic.

To promote the potentials and advantages, minimize the existing difficulties, develop Cua Lo tourism quickly and sustainably in the coming years, worthy of the title "The first coastal tourism city of the country", in the coming term, the Party Committee and people of Cua Lo ward need to focus on the following solutions:

Focus on researching, developing and promulgating projects, plans and schemes for tourism development in Cua Lo for the period 2025-2030 and the following years. Develop a set of regulations on tourism management in Cua Lo for each task such as: Regulations on beach management; Regulations on jet ski management; Regulations on 4-wheel electric vehicle management; Regulations on sidewalk and traffic safety corridor management; Regulations on square management; Regulations on management of hotel and restaurant operations, etc.

Increasing investment in infrastructure to serve tourism development: First, in the first half of the 2025-2030 term, Cua Lo ward needs to focus all resources on planning and rebuilding the park and beach in a modern, multi-purpose direction, close to nature, creating unique characteristics of Cua Lo. This is considered the facade, the unique strength of Cua Lo beach, which very few beaches in the country still retain a strip of land hundreds of meters wide, stretching tens of kilometers along the beach. However, since the clearance of 209 kiosks in 2022, the park and beach have not been designed and built according to the planning approved by the People's Committee of Nghe An province; the beauty and advantages of the beach bestowed by nature have not been exploited.

In addition, Cua Lo ward needs to continue to recommend the People's Committee of Nghe An province to withdraw projects that are behind schedule, hold land but do not implement construction in order to create clean land funds to attract potential investors to build projects serving tourism development. At the same time, it is necessary to promote investment in smart urban areas, telecommunications infrastructure, power grids, water supply and drainage systems, synchronous wastewater and waste treatment. Focus on repairing, upgrading and investing in new lighting systems, decorative electricity, electronic welcome gates, LED screens, etc. to make Cua Lo brighter, greener and more beautiful.

Strengthen propaganda and promotion of Cua Lo as a safe, friendly and hospitable destination. Continue to increase the time of propaganda and promotion of Cua Lo tourism on newspapers, central and local media with many visitors to Cua Lo; take advantage of social networking platforms and 4.0 technology to spread attractive information and images of Cua Lo to domestic and foreign tourists. Regularly organize cultural and artistic activities, provincial and national sports tournaments to attract tourists.

Focus on developing a system of quality, unique, diverse and synchronous tourism products with high value, ensuring to meet the needs of tourists. In addition to resort tourism, sea bathing, and seafood enjoyment as before, the Ward needs to invest and attract investment in developing types of eco-tourism, cultural tourism, sports tourism, promoting the development of MICE tourism (organizing events, conferences, seminars, exhibitions). At the same time, improve the quality of services such as accommodation services, food services, travel services, transportation services, entertainment services, information and guidance services and other related services... In particular, deploy investment in building impressive destinations for tourists to have interesting experiences and discoveries about Cua Lo such as Nghi Thuy fishing village, Nghi Thuy fishing wharf market, traditional craft villages, Mai Bang temple, Van Loc temple, Hieu village temple... Connect Cua Lo with tourist destinations inside and outside the province: Uncle Ho's hometown, Truong Bon relic site, Muong Thanh Safariland Dien Lam eco-tourism area, Great poet Nguyen Du Memorial Area, Dong Loc crossroads... to increase the length of stay and experience for tourists.

Strengthening state management in areas such as managing 4-wheel electric vehicle operations, jet ski services at sea, managing beggars, street vendors, managing prices and quality of goods and services, strengthening patrols to ensure traffic safety, ensuring security and order, food safety, fire prevention and fighting, and rescue to ensure safety for people and tourists. Strengthen inspection to handle violations in tourism activities.

With a team of dedicated, intelligent, united and unanimous staff, we are confident that Cua Lo tourism will develop rapidly, sustainably and gradually affirm its position on the map of Vietnam's sea tourism.
