The Chinese Foreign Ministry said today (February 15) that Foreign Minister Wang Yi will visit Germany, attend the Munich Security Conference, then go to Spain and France.

China's CNS news agency quoted a ministry spokesman as saying that during his visit from February 16-21, Foreign Minister Wang Yi will deliver a speech at the 60th Munich Security Conference in Germany.
The Chinese top diplomat's speech at the conference will "clarify China's proposals for building a community with a shared future for mankind and advocating an equal and orderly multipolar world ."
The Munich Security Conference is an annual forum on international strategy and security policy of global significance. This year’s event, which took place from February 16-18, was attended by military elites from around the world and is considered a “barometer” of transatlantic relations.
Wang Yi’s visit to Spain will be the first by a Chinese foreign minister to the European country in six years. According to the foreign ministry spokesperson, the visit will “strengthen mutual trust, enhance friendship, promote cooperation and enrich the China-Spain comprehensive strategic partnership.”
This year marks the 60th anniversary of China-France diplomatic relations. Last month, Chinese President Xi Jinping and French President Emmanuel Macron exchanged congratulatory messages and delivered video speeches, stressing the need for the two sides to work together to build a more solid and dynamic comprehensive strategic partnership in the next 60 years.
The spokesperson noted that Wang Yi's visit to France will be the first important visit between the two countries this year. Foreign Minister Wang Yi will hold bilateral meetings with the French side and co-chair the China-France Strategic Dialogue with French Presidential Adviser Emmanuel Bonne.
Beijing hopes that the Chinese foreign minister's presence in Paris will "strengthen strategic communication, consolidate political mutual trust, promote practical cooperation and cultural and people-to-people exchanges" with France, coordinate on multilateral issues, steer China-EU relations toward healthy and stable growth, and contribute to global peace, stability, development and progress.
