Drinking too much ice water or cold water can easily cause heart rhythm disturbances in people with heart disease.

The main cause of heart attacks is blockage of the arteries that carry blood to the heart. One of the most common causes of artery blockage is plaque. Plaque is a greasy deposit of cholesterol that builds up in the walls of arteries.

For people with heart disease, it is best to drink water at room temperature, even in the hot summer. Drinking too much ice water or cold water can cause the arteries to suddenly constrict. Studies show that this condition is a potential cause of heart rhythm disturbances and increases the risk of death in people with heart disease.

Not only drinking too much cold water, but soaking in cold water can also have similar effects, causing blood vessels to suddenly constrict, disrupting the heart rhythm and leading to serious problems, such as heart attack, after just a few seconds of exposure to cold water.

People with heart disease should drink water at room temperature or warm water. Drinking warm water after meals will help enhance digestive function. Meanwhile, drinking water at room temperature will help the body's organs function at an optimal level, help eliminate bacteria effectively, regulate body temperature, maintain heart rate and transport oxygen and nutrients throughout the body, according to The Times of India.
