The main reason for the decrease in cattle prices is that the Chinese market has not imported nearly enough cattle for a long time. Meanwhile, recently, a large amount of cattle from Thailand has flooded the Vietnamese market, with lower prices, making the consumption of cattle in the country and in the province even more difficult.

Currently, the total herd of buffaloes and cows in Thanh Hoa province is only over 417 thousand heads, a decrease of more than 20 thousand heads compared to the same period in 2022.

Mr. Le Van Nam, Deputy Head of Agriculture Department of Quan Hoa district, Thanh Hoa province

Mr. Le Van Nam, Deputy Head of the Agriculture Department of Quan Hoa District, Thanh Hoa Province, said that Quan Hoa is a mountainous district with many advantages in developing large-scale livestock farming. However, due to the prolonged low prices, it has greatly affected investment, attention to livestock development and disease prevention.

Thanh Hoa's agricultural sector recommends that cattle and buffalo farmers continue to monitor the market to have appropriate livestock plans, not to reduce herds massively, causing supply disruptions. At the same time, prevent diseases; utilize agricultural by-products as feed for cattle and buffalo to reduce costs. In the long term, farm owners and cattle and buffalo farmers need to organize production according to chains, link product consumption with processing to stabilize output, aiming at sustainable livestock development.
