On July 19, people in Minh Chau commune (Hanoi) participated in a free health check-up program - an activity that kicks off the "Journey to universal health care 2025". This is a large-scale community health program, aiming for each person to have a medical check-up at least once a year, according to the policy of General Secretary To Lam.

Minh Chau is the first commune in Hanoi and the whole country to pioneer the program. Phase 1 focuses on about 1,200 people from vulnerable groups such as the elderly, people with meritorious services, poor households, people with disabilities, etc. All people are given general check-ups, prescribed paraclinical tests, health consultations, free medicine and gifts.

The examination includes cardiovascular, respiratory, digestive, neurological, musculoskeletal examinations, cancer screening, blood pressure, blood sugar, blood lipids, uric acid measurements, ultrasound, electrocardiogram and X-ray. This is the first time people have access to a complete and systematic medical examination service right in the locality.

In addition, the program also implements the development of personal electronic health records, helping medical units manage and monitor each person's health status in the long term. The data will serve the work of disease prevention, early detection, early intervention and appropriate treatment in the future.

The program was attended by doctors from Minh Chau Commune Health Station, Ba Vi General Hospital, with the support of volunteers and local organizations.

The fact that Minh Chau - a commune that used to be among the most disadvantaged in the capital - has pioneered the program has clearly demonstrated the orientation of providing fair and comprehensive health care for people from the grassroots level. This is expected to be a model to be replicated in many other localities in the near future./.
