On June 18, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism in collaboration with Samsung organized the award ceremony of the contest “Galaxy AI understands Vietnamese, honoring Vietnamese tourism”. The event is part of the tourism stimulus program “Vietnam - Go to love” in 2025 launched by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

At the award ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Viet Hung, photographer and administrator of the photo.com.vn forum, was honored in the “Inspirational Person” category. This award recognizes a journey of more than 20 years spreading perspectives about Vietnam through images, from the early stages of using phones to capture the landscape of his homeland to projects with strong social significance.

In 2018, Nguyen Viet Hung traveled alone along the estuaries by motorbike to record the current state of plastic waste pollution. Because many locations were sensitive, he was forced to use his phone to take pictures, instead of a professional camera. The project was then exhibited in Hanoi , with the aim of raising public awareness about the environment.

In this contest, Nguyen Viet Hung continues to bring intimate photo stories, combining technology elements to convey the message of protecting nature and discovering local identity. He shared: "I choose the phone not only because of its convenience, but because it helps me access stories that cameras sometimes refuse" . Along with him, the final prize in the video category was awarded to author Ton Thi Tinh and the photo prize went to author Dinh Nhu Chien.

The organizers said that this year's contest attracted thousands of authors, from independent content creators to influencers, recording their journey of discovery across the country with short videos, images and personal stories.

Some sideline activities also attracted attention, including the experience program “A night of becoming a scholar” at the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam (Hanoi). Participants were guided through the learning stages of ancient scholars through Vietnamese voice support devices, contributing to the reconstruction of history in an interactive and intuitive way.

According to Mr. Hoang Quoc Hoa - Director of the Tourism Information Center (Vietnam National Administration of Tourism), the contest is proof that today's young people are not only tourists, but also storytellers. "Through this contest, we have witnessed a young generation full of creativity and passion. With eyes to admire, hearts to feel and the support of Samsung's Vietnamese-speaking AI technology, they have created images, films, and inspiring stories that evoke love for their homeland and country, urging travelers to pack their backpacks and embark on exciting travel journeys ," he said at the award ceremony.
