Cause of mine accident at Vang Danh coal mine that killed 4 people

Accordingly, at about 7:20 p.m. on August 26, at the upper transport shaft No. 3 dug from the upper mine +50/+80 seam 5, wing area, mining workshop 3, Vang Danh Coal Joint Stock Company (Uong Bi City), a serious work accident occurred in the mine, killing 4 workers.

At 8:10 p.m. the same day, all four workers' bodies were brought out, including: Luong Hoai Nam (born in 1993, from Hong Viet commune, Dong Hung, Thai Binh ), Truong Van Dai (born in 1990, from Vang Danh ward, Uong Bi city), Nguyen Duc Thao (born in 1988, from Quynh Hoi, Quynh Phu, Thai Binh ) and Pham Tien Dung (born in 1987, from Mao Khe, Dong Trieu, Quang Ninh).

Preliminary causes show that recently, the Vang Danh coal mine area has had many rains with a flow of 30-70mm, leading to water seepage.

While working, a group of workers were hit by mud and coal drifting down from the No. 3 transport vehicle, causing an accident that led to their deaths.

Immediately after the incident, Chairman of the Board of Members Ngo Hoang Ngan and leaders of the Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Group were present at the scene, directly directing Vang Danh Coal Joint Stock Company and other forces to conduct rescue work.

Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Xuan Ky and Acting Provincial People's Committee Chairman Cao Tuong Huy agreed to assign Vice Chairman Vu Van Dien to directly command the scene and visit and encourage the victims' families.

Currently, the Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee has directed Vang Danh Coal Joint Stock Company to coordinate with the authorities of Uong Bi City to investigate and clarify the case. At the same time, the Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee is focusing on arranging the funeral for the victims. The Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee has supported 20 million VND for each family of the deceased victims.
