On September 9, the 2023 Kite Awards Ceremony will take place in Nha Trang City. This year, the list of nominees for the Cinema category has 16 works.

"Mrs. Nu's House" competes in the Film category at the 2023 Kite Awards.

Including: "Mrs. Nu's House", "Very Good Squad", "Bloody Happiness", "Super Swindler Meets Super Muddy", "You and Trinh", "Sister Sister" 2, "Con Nhót Mot Chong", "The Girl from the Past", "Vong Nhi", "9", "Rose Squad", "Ten: The Curse Returns", "Jasmine", "Brilliant Ashes", "Memento Mori: Earth".

Looking at the list, the majority are still private films (14/16 films). The film "9" in particular was made by a group of students from the Hanoi Academy of Theatre and Cinema.

The two films invested by the State are "The Rose Squad" produced by the People's Army Cinema in 2022. The film "Exposure" was ordered by the Cinema Department and produced by the Liberation Film Studio and was just completed in early August.

"Flip Side 6: Fateful Ticket" regrettably did not compete at the 2023 Kite Awards.

The surprising and regrettable thing at the 2023 Kite Awards is the absence of "Flip Side 6: The Fateful Ticket" - directed by Ly Hai. The film earned 260 billion VND and received praise for its novel script and quality cast.

Looking at the list of nominees for the 2023 Kite Awards, "Mrs. Nu's House" directed by Tran Thanh is highly anticipated, competing directly with two films considered artistic and have won many awards, namely Glorious Ashes and Glorious Night.

In May, "Mrs. Nu's House" won the Best Film award in the Vietnamese Film category at the first Da Nang International Asian Film Festival, with Tran Thanh winning the Best Director award in this category.

Meanwhile, the film "Glorious Ashes" by director Bui Thac Chuyen won first prize at the Three Continents Film Festival held in Nantes, France.

Looking at the list of nominees for the 2023 Kite Awards, in the past two years, cinema has not had any outstanding films to amaze the audience. Apart from "Nha Ba Nu" or "Lat Mat 6", there is no work that is highly appreciated for its quality and has achieved hundreds of billions in revenue.

In fact, the number of movies classified as cinematic disasters is many times greater than good movies.

Typical disaster movies include: "Cù lao quả sống", "Huận sử vua Đinh", "Virus lưu lưu", "Khi ta hai nam"...

This year, in addition to the Feature Film category, the Golden Kite Award also announced many categories such as: TV series (17 works), short films (52 works), animated films (22 works), documentaries (34 works), scientific films (11 works) and 5 research and critical theory works.

The 2023 Kite Awards are scheduled to take place from September 6-9, at the Do Theater - Nha Trang (Khanh Hoa).

The award ceremony gathered famous Vietnamese and international artists from the US, Korea, India... Notably, actor Ajay Singh Chaudhary - a famous Indian Bollywood star - attended.

The Kite Award is an annual film award of the Vietnam Cinema Association. The award honors films produced in the previous year.

The award was first held in 2002, and has been around for 20 years. Along with the Golden Lotus, the Kite is one of the two largest and most prestigious awards in Vietnamese cinema.
