Mrs. Nu's House and Southern Forest Land were both selected to compete for the Golden Lotus award.

On October 27, the Department of Cinema announced a list of 16 films selected to compete at the 2023 Vietnam Film Festival.

Film Festival 2023: The film Southern Forest Land was selected along with 15 other films to compete for the Golden Lotus Award.

The list of participating films is quite diverse in content and genre. Notable among them is Dat Rung Phuong Nam - a new work released on October 13 and has caused controversy recently.

The 18+ movie The Last Wife by Victor Vu, although it will officially premiere on November 1, has been selected to compete for the Golden Lotus award.

Another film that has just premiered and has not yet been officially released in theaters, Hong Ha Nu Si, is also a notable candidate in the most important category of this year's Film Festival.

The Glorious Ashes , a work that has been continuously honored at many international film festivals and most recently the 2023 Golden Kite Award for Best Feature Film, is a notable candidate at this film festival.

These films will have to compete with Mrs. Nu's House - the work that still holds the record for being the highest-grossing film in the history of Vietnamese cinema by Tran Thanh with 475 billion VND.

Thus, in the list of 16 films competing for the Golden Lotus award this year, there are 2 films that Tran Thanh participated in acting and producing: Mrs. Nu's House and Southern Forest Land.

The remaining films include: 578; 9; The Girl from the Past; The Picked-Up Husband; Peach, Pho and Piano; You and Trinh; FANTI; Jasmine; Anonymous; Oh Mom, Here Comes the Butterfly; Muoi: The Curse Returns.

Vietnam Film Festival 2023 takes place in Da Lat from November 21-25.
