While Samsung's Galaxy Ring smart ring focuses on tracking physical activity, measuring health and sleep metrics, Apple's expected product will focus more on gesture recognition, at least according to information revealed in the company's patent application.

Specifically, the Smart Ring (smart ring) appearing in the application registered by Apple can detect skin surface contacts, recognize finger movements as well as other parts of the wearer's body when creating gestures.

Users can wear one or more rings on different fingers and the device will "understand" the relationship between the fingers, for example which finger is worn, which finger is not worn, which is the thumb, which finger is on the other hand... From there, the ring can perform commands based on different gestures, from fingertip to swipe, move to slide the finger.

With such capabilities, according to GizChina , Apple's smart ring will know when the user is playing Rock-Paper-Scissors - a popular game in the world that uses fingers to simulate the shape of the above 3 tools.

In addition, the demonstration of the smart ring feature also shows the ability to use a finger to "draw" movements on the palm of another hand while wearing the Apple Watch, opening up the ability to control the company's smartwatch with the ring.

As an Apple product (that may be launched), Smart Ring is expected to be compatible with many other devices in the "bitten apple" ecosystem. Therefore, it is not impossible that this will be a secondary wearable device for Vision Pro, a type of head-mounted smart glasses that are also controlled through finger gestures.
