Many shrimp farming areas are affected by disease.

According to information from the provincial Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine, since the beginning of the year, dangerous diseases in farmed shrimp, such as white spot, acute hepatopancreatic necrosis, and microsporidia have occurred with a total diseased area of 12.03 hectares.

Specifically, in Vinh Thuy commune, 6.2 hectares of farmed shrimp were affected by white spot disease, acute hepatopancreatic necrosis, and microsporidia; in Ba Don ward and the communes of Bac Gianh, Nam Ba Don, and Phu Trach, 5.83 hectares were affected by white spot disease.

Head of the provincial Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine Tran Cong Tam said: Due to prolonged hot weather combined with the lack of strict quarantine of shrimp seed before stocking, the polluted environment has caused many shrimp farming areas to be affected by disease.

Currently, the department is coordinating with localities to strengthen disease surveillance at the grassroots level and farming areas; develop a plan for proactive sampling and monitoring, research epidemiological characteristics, response and treatment measures to prevent dangerous pathogens and emerging diseases from entering the province, regularly collect samples for environmental monitoring and warning...

In particular, propaganda should be carried out for aquaculture farmers to declare diseases, take measures to disinfect, sterilize and handle when diseases occur; strictly handle cases of arbitrary discharge and concealment of information about diseased aquatic animals, increasing the risk of disease spread.
