Kaspersky conducted a study to consult with IT security professionals working in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and enterprises around the world about the impact HR can have on organizations.

Accordingly, up to 24% of survey participants said that one of the main reasons why businesses are often attacked by cyberattacks is the lack of highly skilled IT security personnel. When asked about solutions to enhance cybersecurity, 57% revealed that their businesses plan to invest in cybersecurity in the next 12 to 18 months.

Survey respondents suggested a variety of solutions to address cybersecurity vulnerabilities, and of those, 32% wanted businesses to invest in outsourcing cybersecurity staffing.

According to the survey, 34% of businesses plan to invest in third-party specialized services and decide to outsource cybersecurity management to an MSP/MSSP (Managed Service Provider/Managed Security Service Provider). The industries most likely to invest in the service in the near future are critical infrastructure, energy, and oil and gas businesses.

“Businesses in APAC have been facing a shortage of cybersecurity experts for many years now. For our part, Kaspersky has been proactively promoting partnerships with universities, governments and NGOs in APAC to enhance national cybersecurity capabilities and build cybersecurity talent in the region,” said Adrian Hia, Managing Director of Kaspersky Asia Pacific.
