Nghi Xuan District ( Ha Tinh ) has developed a plan and implemented many meaningful activities to celebrate the 245th anniversary of the birth and 165th anniversary of the death of the famous person Nguyen Cong Tru (1778-1858).
A delegation of researchers from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City visited Nguyen Cong Tru Temple (Tien Dien Town, Nghi Xuan) in early 2023.
Accordingly, Nghi Xuan district has organized a contest "Learning about the life and career of the famous person Nguyen Cong Tru" in schools from September 20 to November 20, 2023, expected to conclude on the occasion of Uy Vien Tuong Cong's death anniversary.
Within the framework of the celebration activities, there is also the Nghi Xuan Marathon 2023, scheduled to be held from December 9 to December 10, 2023, at Nguyen Du Square (Tien Dien town). In particular, on this occasion, Nghi Xuan district will organize a performance night of intangible cultural heritage values: Ca tru, folk songs, Nghe Tinh Giam, Chau Van singing... (the program has the participation of staging and performance by Ha Tinh Traditional Arts Theater), scheduled to take place on the evening of December 9, 2023 at Nguyen Du Square (Tien Dien town).
Along with cultural, artistic and sports activities, the 165th death anniversary of Nguyen Cong Tru will be held on December 26, 2023 (November 14 of the lunar calendar), at his temple.
Mr. Bui Viet Hung - Vice Chairman of Nghi Xuan District People's Committee said: "The activities to celebrate the 245th anniversary of the birth and the 165th anniversary of the death of the famous person Nguyen Cong Tru aim to affirm his merits, talents and honor his great contributions to Vietnamese culture and humanity. Through this, we will expand cultural exchanges, promote Nghi Xuan cultural values to domestic and international friends, and create a favorable environment to build and develop culture associated with the Nghi Xuan heritage journey.
The commemorative activities contribute to propagating and educating the tradition of patriotism, love for the homeland, and national pride for generations; encouraging and gathering many organizations and social forces to actively preserve, promote, and exploit the value of intangible cultural heritage associated with the economic and social development of the country in general and the homeland of the famous person Nguyen Cong Tru in particular."
