According to The Verge , on the evening of April 26, many Apple ID users around the world were suddenly logged out of their accounts and asked to reset their passwords when they tried to log back in.
Specifically, some people reported being kicked out of their Apple accounts abruptly, then having to re-enter their iPhone passcode to reconnect to iCloud, while others with Stolen Device Protection enabled said they had to wait an additional hour before being able to log back in.

One X user named 'Nic Lake' said he was told by a member of Apple's support team that the issue was related to "sometimes random security enhancements being added to the account." Meanwhile on Reddit, another person reported in the Apple ID issue thread that Apple support said their password had been changed in the middle of the night.
Some users also reported having to reset their passwords for each third-party app that accessed their Apple ID (such as an email app). Or user FiveOhFour on X asked: “I was suddenly asked by Apple to enter my Apple ID password, then they asked me to enter my phone passcode, then they locked my account and asked me to reset my Apple ID password?”
Many users speculate that this incident may be related to the password reset attacks that were reported in March. However, there is currently no evidence to confirm this.
Apple has not yet commented on this incident. In the meantime, users should change their Apple ID password and update their device software to the latest version.
