Vung Chua - Yen Island, the resting place of General Vo Nguyen Giap

On the morning of February 2, Mr. Nguyen Duc Hien - Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Dong commune, Quang Trach district, Quang Binh province - said that the tomb of General Vo Nguyen Giap is open to visitors at fixed hours.

Specifically, morning: 7:00 - 11:30; afternoon: 13:30 - 17:00 daily.

"Because they do not know the visiting hours, many groups of visitors arriving at noon or after 5 p.m. have to turn back. To fully pay their respects to General Vo Nguyen Giap, people need to research and check carefully before going," said Mr. Hien.

According to records, during Tet, many people from all over flocked to the tomb of General Vo Nguyen Giap at Vung Chua - Yen Island in Quang Dong Commune, Quang Trach District - to pay their respects. However, due to not knowing the visiting schedule, many people regretfully returned when the tomb was closed.

Many groups of visitors came to pay their respects during lunchtime or after 5 p.m. but were not allowed to enter the tomb. In particular, from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. on the fourth day of Tet, many cars arrived at the gate but were forced to turn around, creating a crowded and cramped scene.

A veteran from Nghe An shared that every year his family stops by Vung Chua to burn incense for the General on the way to Hue to visit relatives. However, this year, due to a late departure and not checking the visiting schedule, he arrived when the tomb was closed. Although he regretted it, he still respected the rules and made an appointment to return another time.

To avoid missing the grave visit, people need to carefully check the opening hours before setting off, ensuring that their journey to pay their respects is complete.

Since late September 2024, Mrs. Dang Bich Ha, wife of General Vo Nguyen Giap, has also been buried next to the General at Vung Chua - Yen Island. This is the place where every holiday season, thousands of people often come to pay their respects on the North-South journey.
