Vietnam International Digital Week 2024 (VIDW 2024) with the theme "Virtual Assistant" was opened by the Ministry of Information and Communications on the morning of November 19 in Ha Long city, Quang Ninh province.

VIDW 2024 marks the largest-ever organization, with 12 official events and side events, expected to attract more than 600 domestic and international delegates, including leaders of state management agencies from nearly 30 countries, representatives of international organizations and leading technology enterprises.

Speaking at the opening of the conference, Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung, Minister of Information and Communications , Vice Chairman of the National Committee on Digital Transformation emphasized: AI is the core technology of the fourth industrial revolution. In which, each individual and each organization must build their own virtual assistant, based on their own data and knowledge, to make a difference. In addition, virtual assistants separate the roles of technology companies and users, in which technology companies provide technology platforms, AI tools, and support tools to teach virtual assistants.

Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung affirmed that Vietnam is prioritizing the development of virtual assistants for each state agency, each agency will have its own virtual assistant, and each civil servant will have a virtual assistant. In addition, Vietnam has and will continue to prioritize promoting regional and international cooperation initiatives in the fields of digital technology and digital economy , in which priority will be given to AI cooperation programs on the development and use of virtual assistants.

Therefore, the conference is an opportunity to directly exchange, share and discuss institutions, policies and practices of Ministers, representatives of management agencies, international organizations, consulting firms, and leading enterprises in this field in various countries. On that basis, Vietnam has been and will continue to prioritize promoting regional and international cooperation initiatives in the field of digital technology and digital economy, in which priority will be given to cooperation programs on AI, development and use of virtual assistants.

It is known that VIDW 2024 takes place from November 19-22, 2024 with the focus on exchanging, discussing, and sharing good practices, new approaches and initiatives to expand cooperation between countries, organizations, and businesses on promoting AI development and virtual assistant deployment, with priority topics such as virtual assistant applications (TLA), artificial intelligence (AI) governance, Open RAN, legal framework for 5G, digital infrastructure development and digital human resources.

Within the framework of VIDW 2024, the Plenary Session is a Roundtable event for government representatives, international organizations and industry leaders to exchange views, enhance cooperation and promote partnerships between Vietnamese businesses and global stakeholders. The Roundtable will focus on the topic of virtual assistant applications, emphasizing the potential for closer cooperation and developing innovative, cross-sectoral solutions. Along with strategic discussions, sharing visions on the future of digital technology, the role of virtual assistants (TLA) in promoting economic growth and improving national governance capacity, towards sustainable development goals.

The 5th 5G Conference, which took place right after the Plenary Session, was an initiative of Vietnam, announced by Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung at the 2018 ASEAN Telecommunications and Information Technology Ministers Meeting, to promote regional coordination on 5G policy, investment, technology development, services and applications. The objective of this Conference is to focus on discussing key priority issues related to the deployment of Open RAN, the legal framework for 5G and advances in technology innovation and ecosystem building. The event will also report on the progress of 5G deployment in ASEAN countries and live demonstrations of real-world 5G applications by ASEAN member countries, dialogue partners and international organizations.

In addition to the activities with the theme "Virtual Assistant", from November 19-22, 2024, the Ministry of Information and Communications will coordinate with ASEAN countries, Korea, Australia, the United States and international organizations such as ITU, OECD to organize specialized forums with different topics: International Forum on Digital Strategy, Policy and AI Governance; International Forum on Digital Strategy, Policy and AI Governance; ASEAN Information Officers' Meeting (SOMRI); ASEAN Workshop on Trusted Services; Workshop on New Generation License-Free Technologies for Digital Economic Development; International Digital Investment Forum; International Forum on Digital Connection; Vietnam - OECD Conference on Digital Human Resource Development; Vietnam - Korea Digital Transformation Forum; Vietnam - ITU Conference on AI Governance and AI Applications in Industrial Sectors and organize the Southeast Asia Hackathon competition...
