On December 30, the US Embassy in Hanoi posted a video reviewing the most meaningful achievements in Vietnam-US relations in 2024 through the sharing of US Ambassador to Vietnam Marc Knapper.

In the video, Ambassador Marc Knapper emphasized that the two countries have achieved important milestones over the past year, strengthening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, building a future of shared prosperity and security.

“This year, we have seen transformative progress. In just over a decade, trade between the United States and Vietnam has quadrupled, from $30 billion to more than $120 billion. From the largest agricultural delegation visit ever, to the delivery of the first five T-6C trainer aircraft, and the announcement of $12.5 million to enhance maritime safety as part of our commitment to regional peace and security, opportunities for cooperation are opening up on both sides of the Pacific ,” he said.

According to Ambassador Marc Knapper, the US is proud to support Vietnam in its green transition by approving a direct power purchase agreement, which helps businesses buy clean electricity directly from renewable energy producers.

Additionally, through the Mekong Delta Coastal Habitat Conservation Project and initiatives such as promoting environmentally friendly agricultural practices, the United States continues to support environmental sustainability and climate resilience in Vietnam.

In addition, the US this year expanded English language training programs focused on STEM, strengthened bilateral cooperation in higher education, and launched the ITSI-CHIPS Semiconductor Industry Workforce Accelerator Program. This helps Vietnam build a world-class and globally competitive workforce.

As part of its long-term commitment, the United States announced an additional $65 million to complete dioxin remediation at Bien Hoa Airbase, and pledged more than $26 million in additional funding to improve the safety of communities affected by unexploded ordnance and improve the quality of life for 1 million people with disabilities over the past three decades. In addition, the United States stood with Vietnam as a partner and friend in the months following Typhoon Yagi, providing $1 million in emergency assistance to families directly affected by the disaster.

Ambassador Knapper expressed confidence that as the two countries celebrate 30 years of diplomatic relations in 2025, the Vietnam-US partnership will continue to thrive. "Together, we will seize new opportunities, address global challenges, and build a prosperous, stable, and secure future for all," the ambassador affirmed.
