Seeing the way VFF said goodbye to coach Troussier, Korean newspaper was surprised

(Dan Tri) - The Korean newspaper said that the Korean Football Federation (KFA) lost a lot of money in compensation for coach Jurgen Klinsmann. Meanwhile, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) did not have to compensate coach Troussier.
Recently, VFF reached an agreement to terminate the contract with coach Troussier after the 0-3 defeat to Indonesia in the second qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup. In particular, the highest authority of Vietnamese football did not have to pay compensation to the French strategist. Instead, VFF only supported coach Troussier with three months' salary (more than 4 billion VND).

Seeing the way VFF parted ways with coach Troussier, Sports Daily (Korea) expressed sadness. They said that the Korean Football Association (KFA) had spent too much money to compensate coach Jurgen Klinsmann in a context of not being very financially well-off. This newspaper wrote: "The parting between VFF and coach Troussier is completely different from the process that happened between KFA and coach Jurgen Klinsmann". In the article, the author commented: "VFF persuaded Coach Troussier to terminate his contract early. They made the French strategist understand that the Vietnamese team needed to change. This goodwill farewell is completely different from the KFA terminating the contract with Coach Jurgen Klinsmann. Despite great pressure, the German coach still refused to resign. In the contract, KFA also did not include a clause to terminate cooperation with this coach. That made KFA pay a high price when firing Coach Klinsmann. This agency had to spend up to 7 billion won (about 131 billion VND) to compensate Coach Klinsmann for the contract. If including the coaching team, KFA lost a total of 10 billion won (about 184 billion VND) in compensation.

This is a huge number in the context of the KFA's negative financial situation. The large loss of money makes it difficult for the KFA to find the next coach." The KFA is still in the process of finding a new coach. Interim coach Hwang Sun Hong has completed his mission after leading the Korean team in two matches against Thailand in the second qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup. In which, Korea won 1, drew 1 against this opponent. They still maintain the top position in Group C with 10 points. The Korean team is almost certain to continue when it is 3 points ahead of China and 6 points ahead of Thailand while there are only two rounds left in the tournament. Meanwhile, the Vietnamese team is at high risk of being eliminated from the second qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup. We are 4 points behind the second-placed team in Group F, Indonesia. The "Golden Dragons" need to win both of their final matches against the Philippines and Iraq, and hope that Indonesia will only get a maximum of 1 point when meeting these two opponents.
