On January 15, Tuoi Tre Online recorded at ornamental grape gardens in Ninh Phuoc district ( Ninh Thuan ), the bustling atmosphere of farmers while they were busy taking care of ornamental grapes to serve the needs of Tet At Ty 2025.

High price still very attractive

While meticulously tending and decorating ornamental grape pots, Mr. Tong Minh Hoang, owner of Hoang Yen vineyard in Phuoc Thuan commune (Ninh Phuoc district), said that this is the peak time for farmers to take care of each grape tree in its "spring" to serve the traditional Tet holiday of the nation.

According to Mr. Hoang, the ornamental grape market this year is more exciting than every year.

Currently, his family has sold more than 100 ornamental grape pots to all provinces and cities in the country.

“My garden has nearly 300 ornamental grape pots. Depending on the circular shape and the number of fruit clusters, the selling price is different. In particular, the super-fruit grape pots costing 2-3 million VND are sold out because customers are constantly ordering them,” said Mr. Hoang.

According to Mr. Hoang, this year, gardeners have limited the planting of black grape varieties such as candy grapes, black finger grapes, etc. Instead, they are growing red grapes and colorful Japanese pink grapes to meet the tastes of the New Year.

Why are ornamental grapes attractive?

At the A8 Grape Cooperative in Phuoc Thuan Commune (Ninh Phuoc District), members are busy tying branches and packing grapevines to transport to customers for Tet.

Mr. Le Ngoc Hoai - manager of A8 Grape Cooperative - said that the cooperative has more than 8,000 large and small ornamental grape trees with different shapes.

The price of mini grape pots ranges from 300,000 - 500,000 VND/pot, while the 2-tier vertical grape pots and solar panel shaped pots range from 2 - 4 million VND.

This year, in addition to traditional grape varieties such as red grapes, green grapes, and Japanese pink grapes, the cooperative also tested new varieties such as Korean peony grapes, red peony grapes, and Kyoho grapes.

“Currently, more than 50% of the cooperative’s vineyards have been ordered by traders to be shipped to sell across the country. According to forecasts and also the reality of previous years, the closer to Tet, the higher the demand for ornamental grapes, so the risk of shortage is very high. The higher the demand, the higher the price of ornamental grapes,” said Mr. Hoai.

Talking to Tuoi Tre Online , Mr. Truong Dinh Nguyen, a grape trader in Ninh Thuan, said that currently the demand for grape trees for Tet decoration is increasing in the northern provinces, including major markets such as Hanoi , Quang Ninh, and Hai Phong.

“Compared to apricot and peach blossoms, ornamental grape trees are gradually becoming unique ornamental trees with their own appeal due to their bright red color and ease of care. After Tet, ornamental grape trees can be planted separately for shade, creating a very special highlight in the home garden, so they are very popular with players,” Mr. Nguyen shared.

Ninh Thuan is the largest grape growing area in the country with an area of about 1,000 hectares, annual output of about 25 tons/ha.

The province's development orientation until 2030 is about 2,000 hectares of grape growing area, concentrated in Ninh Phuoc, Ninh Son, Ninh Hai districts and Phan Rang - Thap Cham city.

Taking advantage of that, every time Tet comes, Ninh Thuan grape growers produce new and unique ornamental grape products. In the past 5 years, ornamental grape trees have been chosen by many people to display during Tet, along with apricot, peach, and kumquat trees.
