To check, VinaPhone customers compose a message with the syntax 2G or TC2G and send it to 888.

If you are using VinaPhone network, checking if your phone supports the new technology is very easy. Just compose a message with the syntax 2G or TC2G and send it to 888 (free message). After sending the message, you will receive a response from the network operator about whether your phone only supports 2G network or not. If your device only supports 2G, you will be recommended to upgrade your phone to continue using the communication service without interruption.

Check via Viettel network

Currently, Viettel allows users to check which phone they are using via text message sent to hotline 191.

Viettel provides a way to check through the phone's IMEI number. To know the device's IMEI number, you just need to open the call function and enter *#06#. The IMEI number will appear on the screen. Next, you compose a message with the syntax KTDT [IMEI number] and send it to 191 (free message). Then, the system will return the result to you. If the result shows that your phone supports 4G, you can rest assured to continue using it. On the contrary, if the result is that the device only supports 2G, you should consider buying a new device to avoid service interruption.

Check via MobiFone network

MobiFone provides two ways to check if your phone supports the new technology.

Method 1: You can look up directly on MobiFone's website by getting the IMEI number (via *#06#), then access the MobiFone website and select the Look up 2G phone TAC information section. Enter the IMEI number to check.

Method 2: If you want to be faster, you can visit the IMEI.info website. Enter your phone's IMEI number in the search box, confirm the CAPTCHA code and press the Check button. The results will appear, telling you whether your phone supports 3G/4G or not. If it only supports 2G network, you will receive a notification that you need to upgrade your device.

Checking whether your phone supports newer network technology (3G/4G/5G) is extremely important, especially when carriers are about to stop providing 2G services. Many "brick" phones and even some recently manufactured devices still only support 2G. If you do not check and upgrade in time, users may experience communication interruptions after September 16, 2024.

If you need further assistance with upgrading your phone or switching services, carriers are ready to help. You can contact customer service or visit your nearest transaction point for detailed advice.
