On October 1, three cargo ships left Ukrainian ports on the Black Sea, departing through the temporary "humanitarian corridor" established by Kiev after Russia withdrew from the Black Sea grain deal.

In September, Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Oleksandr Kubrakov said three cargo ships were en route to Ukrainian ports on the Black Sea to pick up more food and steel for export. Specifically, the Azara, Ying Hao 01 and Eneida cargo ships were loaded with 127,000 tonnes of agricultural products and iron ore for export to China, Egypt and Spain.

The Black Sea grain deal brokered by the United Nations and Türkiye last year allows for safe exports of grain and other food from Ukrainian Black Sea ports.

Russia suspended its participation in the deal in July, saying that provisions on Russian food and fertilizer exports in the deal had not been implemented. Moscow has said it is ready to return to the agreement as soon as the remaining parties fully comply with their commitments to Russia.

In August, Ukraine announced the creation of a “humanitarian corridor” along its western Black Sea coast, near Romania and Bulgaria, to clear the way for cargo ships stranded in its ports.
