Testicular cancer is a rare cancer, usually occurring in people under 45 years old. The disease is completely curable. As with many other types of cancer, the key is still early detection, according to the health website Medical News Today (UK).

Testicular cancer occurs mainly in men between the ages of 15 and 44.

Testicular cancer is considered a disease of young men because it occurs mainly in men between the ages of 15 and 44. The highest incidence is between the ages of 20 and 34.

Studies show that in more than 90% of testicular cancers, the cancer cells begin to form from germ cells. These are the cells that produce sperm in the testicles. The cancer cells then begin to multiply and grow uncontrollably into tumors.

Testicular cancer is divided into two types: seminoma and non-seminomatous cancer. Non-seminomatous cancer includes embryonal carcinoma, endodermal sinus tumor or teratoma.

Common symptoms of testicular cancer include a feeling of heaviness in the scrotum, dull pain in the groin, testicles or scrotum. In particular, the patient will feel a painless lump or swelling in the testicle.

When these symptoms appear, the patient should go to the hospital for examination as soon as possible. Delaying examination and treatment can cause the cancer to spread to surrounding tissues, making treatment more difficult.

Scientists still do not know exactly why testicular cancer occurs. However, they believe that it is likely that testicular cancer begins due to the influence of agents that can change the DNA of testicular cells.

Specifically, the biological characteristics of testicular tissue play an important role in the development of the disease. Testicular cells will begin to divide at a very fast rate during puberty and the following years. This rapid division makes the phenomenon of gene mutations more likely to occur. Gene mutations can lead to the formation of cancer cells.

In addition, hormonal changes during adolescence also contribute to the development of testicular cancer. Unhealthy lifestyles such as smoking, drinking too much alcohol, and exposure to toxic chemicals also increase the risk of the disease, according to Medical News Today.
