However, not all iPhone users can enjoy this superior feature (Photo: ST).

At the WWDC event held in early June, Apple officially introduced iOS 26. This update not only brings a "transformation" interface with an impressive Liquid Glass design, but also adds a series of new features to enhance the daily iPhone user experience.

One of the notable highlights is the appearance of Adaptive Power Mode - a smart feature expected to optimize battery life in important situations.

The new “Adaptive Power” mode is designed to complement the existing “Power Saver” mode in iOS’s power-saving options. According to Apple, “When battery usage is higher than usual, iPhone may make small adjustments to extend battery life, such as slightly reducing screen brightness or allowing some activities to take longer to complete. Low Power Mode can be turned on at 20% power.”

However, there is some bad news for some iPhone users. This new "Adaptive Power" feature is not for everyone. To activate this mode, the user's device must be a new model that supports Apple Intelligence technology.

Here is the list of iPhone models that support the new battery optimization feature on iOS 26:

  • iPhone 15 Pro
  • iPhone 15 Pro Max
  • iPhone 16
  • iPhone 16 Plus
  • iPhone 16 Pro
  • iPhone 16 Pro Max

This means that even if your iPhone 11 or newer models are capable of updating to iOS 26, you still won't be able to use this new power mode.

So while iOS 26 brings a lot of promise for improved battery performance, this perk seems to be reserved for the latest iPhones, which are equipped with Apple Intelligence technology.

This may make some users feel regretful, but it is also the motivation for Apple to continue to promote hardware and software innovation, bringing the most advanced experiences to its users.

Experts also recommend that users should not upgrade to iOS 26 beta (test) now because it can cause errors or damage the iPhone. Instead, wait until Apple announces the official version.
