Efforts to bring safe products to consumers

Along with the tightening of management by the authorities, the centralized slaughterhouses must also be proactive and determined in rectifying and innovating their operating procedures, making the greatest effort to ensure that safe products reach consumers. The story at Thai Hoa Joint Stock Company (Quang Hanh Ward) is one such example.

Leaders of Thai Hoa Joint Stock Company and veterinary staff check the quality of pork before bringing it to market.

As one of the large-scale centralized slaughterhouses in Quang Hanh, Cam Pha, Thai Hoa Joint Stock Company currently has a capacity of nearly 150 pigs processed per day. According to the process being applied here, all live pigs must have a quarantine certificate and a record of veterinary hygiene status from the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine at the breeding site. When all information is complete according to regulations, the company's staff will receive the pigs into the facility through a separate entrance, disinfect and ensure cleanliness before being put into the slaughter line. All products that do not meet the requirements, especially pigs with abnormal signs in the lymph nodes, or rice tapeworms... are removed for immediate destruction, absolutely not used. The output products are also immediately inspected by veterinary staff, quality monitored for the last time, confirmed and stamped by the Agricultural Technical Service Center, before being released to the market.

Operating in a specific industry, the company always pays attention to environmental factors. The slaughterhouse is located far from the urban center to limit noise pollution to residents. All wastewater is collected and treated according to strict procedures before being released into the natural environment. Every 6 months, the company sends wastewater samples for testing and analysis to compare with the threshold limit in QCVN 40:2025/BTNMT - National technical regulation on industrial wastewater. The wastewater sample analysis report is an indispensable part of the company's annual environmental records, demonstrating the company's compliance and commitment to environmental protection. At the same time, the retained documents will be important legal evidence when the authorities inspect and evaluate.

It is known that the company is creating regular jobs for 40 people, with an average income of 10 million VND/person/month. Labor safety and hygiene work is always thoroughly cared for, regularly checked and reminded to become the business's routine, the self-awareness of each individual. Specifically, such as providing enough labor protection; regularly checking fire prevention and safety, electricity and water systems... serving production; periodically sending staff and workers to participate in training on food safety and hygiene...

Thai Hoa Joint Stock Company regularly reviews documents and records certifying veterinary hygiene conditions, animal disease safety and food safety according to the provisions of law.

Ms. Hoang Tu Lieu, Director of Thai Hoa Joint Stock Company, said: Building a strict process and thoroughly implementing it 100% of officers, employees, and workers to strictly comply with it has become the top criterion in the company's operations. This is the survival criterion of the enterprise when food safety and hygiene is becoming a hot issue of primary concern to the whole society; the directions of the Central and the province are focusing on tightening the management of animal slaughtering activities to protect people's health. Thanks to that, for many years now, the company's products have always been widely accepted and trusted, and are present in all wholesale markets, people's markets, and collective kitchens of many large units and enterprises in the locality.

The centralized slaughtering model like that of Thai Hoa Joint Stock Company, when implemented strictly and systematically, will significantly contribute to solving the environmental pollution in residential areas caused by small slaughterhouses that do not meet requirements. At the same time, it will help specialized agencies and local authorities to manage and control more effectively; limiting the risk of outbreaks of dangerous diseases in livestock.

The Provincial People's Committee has just issued Document No. 1982/UBND-TC (dated June 18, 2025) "On rectifying the management of slaughter activities, the process of controlling animal slaughter to ensure disease safety and food safety". Accordingly, the Provincial People's Committee requires localities to increase surprise inspections, strictly handle acts of slaughtering sick pigs, dead pigs, without veterinary control; strengthen supervision of facilities collecting, preliminary processing, and processing animal products, especially in border areas; suspend unlicensed facilities, facilities that do not ensure hygiene conditions, and use prohibited chemicals and additives. At the same time, continue to closely monitor and control trails, openings, and seaports to promptly prevent illegal transportation of animal products of unknown origin across the border...
