On December 29, the Provincial Statistics Office held a press conference to announce socio-economic statistics for 2023 in Ninh Thuan province. Attending the press conference were representatives of leaders of a number of provincial departments, branches and sectors; reporters from press agencies in the province.

At the press conference, the leader of the Provincial Statistics Office said: In 2023, the total product in the province GRDP is estimated to increase by 9.40% over the previous year, the 9th highest growth rate compared to the whole country and the 2nd highest growth rate in the North Central and Central coastal provinces. Of which, the agriculture, forestry and fishery sector increased by 4.57%; the industry and construction sector increased by 15.80%; the service sector increased by 8.50%; and product tax increased by 2.14%.

Industrial production increased quite high due to the addition of new capacity in the renewable energy power generation industry; favorable weather, production model conversion and technological innovation contributed to the increase in sea salt mining products. The industrial production index of the whole industry increased by 13.17% over the same period in 2022. Total retail sales of goods and service revenue reached 38 trillion VND, up 15.9% over the same period last year.

Agricultural, forestry and fishery production in 2023 maintained stable growth. With sufficient irrigation water, the annual crop area and yield increased compared to the same period; rice production had a good harvest and good prices; the output of mainly perennial crops increased significantly. Livestock production developed stably; aquatic product output increased in both exploitation and aquaculture. The total rice area in 2023 reached nearly 47 thousand hectares, an increase of nearly 1.5 thousand hectares, the estimated yield reached 61.8 quintals/ha, the output reached 290 thousand tons, an increase of 10 thousand tons. The total aquatic product output reached 142.8 thousand tons, an increase of 3.1% compared to 2022, of which aquaculture output reached 11.2 thousand tons and exploitation reached nearly 131.6 thousand tons. Aquatic seed output reached 41.7 billion, an increase of 4.7% over the previous year; of which shrimp seed was 41.0 billion, an increase of 4.5%.

Total state budget revenue is estimated at VND 3,658 billion, reaching 100% of the annual estimate and down 4.5% compared to the previous year. Total state budget expenditure is estimated at VND 8,200 billion for the whole year, reaching 108.7% of the annual estimate and up 10.1% compared to 2022. Investment capital implemented in the area at current prices is estimated at VND 21.7 trillion in 2023, up 12.2% compared to the previous year. The consumer price index (CPI) increased by 4.57% compared to the previous year.

The average population of the province in 2023 is 601.2 thousand people. The labor force tends to increase but the labor market and employment increase slowly due to continued difficulties and challenges. In general, in 2023, the number of employed people increased by 4.9 thousand people compared to the same period last year.
