US billionaire Elon Musk said he enjoys 'spending time with President Trump', while affirming that he does not directly influence Mr. Trump's cabinet nominations.

"To be clear, while I have given my opinion on some cabinet nominees, many of the selections were made without my knowledge and the decisions were 100% the president's," billionaire Elon Musk wrote on social network X on November 20. Musk's post appeared to be in response to reports in the US media. Among them was an article by the New York Post (USA), claiming that Musk is a close ally of Trump and has influence over the nominations for the upcoming administration. Meanwhile, NBC cited sources saying that Donald Trump's inner circle has begun to tire of Musk's influence and his constant presence alongside President-elect Donald Trump. "He (Musk) is acting like he is a 'co-president' and trying to make sure everyone knows it," NBC quoted a source. "And he's certainly taking a lot of credit for the president's victory. He's been bragging about America PAC and X to anyone who will listen. He's trying to make President Trump feel like he owes him. But the president owes no one," the person added. Musk said in the X post that he "really enjoyed spending time with President Trump." But he also noted that there were "a large number of loyalists" at Mar-a-Lago who have worked for Trump for years. Musk has spent a lot of time and money supporting Trump in the 2024 presidential election. After Trump won, he was often seen by Trump and was even allowed to join a phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. President-elect Donald Trump recently announced that he will let billionaire Elon Musk and former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy co-lead the newly established Office of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
