On the same day, the President-elect nominated his in-law Charles Kushner as the US Ambassador to France. Mr. Kushner is a real estate tycoon who was previously sentenced to prison for tax evasion and another crime. In 2020, Mr. Trump pardoned Mr. Kushner, saying that his in-law had made important contributions to charity since his release from prison. Mr. Trump and Mr. Kushner met while working in real estate, and their children, Mr. Jared Kushner and Ms. Ivanka Trump, married in 2009. Mr. Jared Kushner served as an advisor during his father-in-law's first term but said he would not join the upcoming administration.
