Fox News reported on April 18 that former President Donald Trump is 2 percentage points ahead of President Joe Biden in Wisconsin, one of seven battleground states that will determine the outcome of the US presidential election on November 5.

According to a survey by Marquette Law School (Wisconsin), Mr. Trump won 51% and Mr. Biden received 49% of the voter support if only counting the group of participants including registered voters of the Republican and Democratic parties.

Including independents and third-party voters, Trump won 41%, Biden won 40%. Independent Robert F. Kennedy Jr. won 13%, Green Party candidate Jill Stein won 3%, and independent Cornell West won 2%.

This is the latest survey in Wisconsin, with surveys in the past month in the state showing Mr. Trump with an equal or higher support rate than Mr. Biden.

Wisconsin is a "blue" state, meaning a state won by Democratic presidential candidates from 1988 to 2012 and is called the "blue wall" by the party.

However, eight years ago, Mr. Trump won against Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton. Four years later, Wisconsin was one of six battleground states where Mr. Biden won narrowly against Mr. Trump.

"Independent voters significantly favored Trump in this month's poll," according to a statement from Marquette Law School.

According to The Hill and the US election results tracking site Decision Desk HQ, the 7 battleground states this year are expected to be Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

The survey was conducted from April 3-10 with the participation of 814 participants, with a margin of accuracy of 4.8%.
