Standing Vice Chairman of Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee Ha Sy Dong has just signed a decision approving the plan to implement the Project on developing key industrial crops and cassava industry in Quang Tri province until 2030, with a vision to 2050.

The goal of the plan is to gradually develop key industrial crops on a large scale in the direction of commodities, focusing on production associated with processing, building brands and sustainable development, while at the same time developing the cassava industry stably and effectively.

Building a close link between production, processing and product consumption to create high economic value, promote restructuring of the agricultural sector, stabilize people's lives, and develop socio-economy.

By 2030, strive to maintain stable areas of key industrial crops (rubber 20,000 - 21,000 ha, coffee 4,000 - 5,000 ha, pepper 2,500 - 2,700 ha); review and plan concentrated production areas, form areas of high-quality coffee, specialty coffee, organic pepper; promote new planting and replanting of old, degraded, low-economic-efficiency long-term industrial crops.

For the cassava industry, strive to maintain the annual cassava growing area at 10,500 hectares, with an output of about 200,000 to 220,000 tons; the cassava growing area applying sustainable farming processes reaches over 50%; the export turnover of cassava and cassava products reaches 1,500 billion VND.

Vision to 2050, sustainably develop the province's key industrial crops into large-scale commodity production areas; promote investment in deep processing, diversify product types; 60% - 70% of cassava growing area applies sustainable farming processes, fresh cassava products used for deep processing reach over 90%...

It is known that currently the whole province is stably developing nearly 25,000 hectares of long-term industrial crops, helping to increase people's income and contribute to building new rural areas.

In addition, with an annual area of 11,000 - 12,000 hectares, cassava is one of the traditional, long-standing crops that has contributed to poverty reduction and increased income for people in the province, especially in ethnic minority areas with an average income of 30 - 40 million VND/ha.
