Báo Nhân dânBáo Nhân dân12/10/2024

In the current period of promoting and accelerating digital transformation, bad guys have taken advantage of the explosion of information technology and the conveniences that information technology brings to carry out many online scams and appropriate valuable assets.

In recent times, Vietnamese people have often faced the problem of online fraud. Fraudsters find every way to take advantage of and exploit the weakest point of people. With sophisticated tricks, fraudsters apply many psychological measures to gain trust and lead according to the script.

According to the Department of Information Security, in the first 9 months of 2024, more than 22,200 reports of online fraud were received from internet users to the Vietnam Information Security Warning Portal.

In addition to technical measures, raising awareness, along with basic to advanced skills for people is considered one of the leading measures to help prevent the negative impacts of online fraud. When people and vulnerable people master the skills to identify and prevent online fraud, they will be more vigilant, thereby reducing the problem of online fraud that occurs every day.

To increase public awareness and reduce the risks of being scammed in cyberspace, the Ministry of Information and Communications officially launched the Campaign "Skills to identify and prevent online scams to protect people in cyberspace" under the chairmanship of the Department of Information Security.

The campaign was deployed on a large scale from October 10 to November 20, in coordination with ministries, departments and branches from central to local levels, information security enterprises, online service providers, social networking platforms and press and media agencies nationwide.

The Department of Information Security calls for preventing fraud in cyberspace not only to be the responsibility of state management agencies but also the common responsibility of the whole society.

Protecting yourself online is a never-ending journey that requires constant vigilance and effort.

Everyone needs to grasp the necessary knowledge and skills to become a safe and smart user in cyberspace.
