Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son received Egyptian Ambassador Amal Abdel Kader Elmorsi Salama to bid farewell.

On the afternoon of July 4, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Egypt to Vietnam Amal Abdel Kader Elmorsi Salama on the occasion of the end of his term of office.

At the reception, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Bui Thanh Son congratulated and highly appreciated the important contributions of Ambassador A. Salama during his term in Vietnam, especially in coordinating with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other ministries and branches of Vietnam to successfully arrange visits by high-ranking leaders of the two countries; organizing many meaningful events to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Egypt diplomatic relations (1963-2023) as well as preparing for delegation exchange activities in the coming time.

Recalling that President Ho Chi Minh visited Egypt three times, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Bui Thanh Son said that this is an important foundation to further promote cooperation between the two countries in the coming time. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Bui Thanh Son suggested that the two sides continue to promote contacts and exchanges of high-level delegations and all levels; strengthen trade and investment cooperation, propose to promote the signing of the Vietnam - Egypt FTA, strive to increase trade turnover to 1 billion USD in the coming time, identifying these as pillars in bilateral relations; suggest that the two countries continue to coordinate and support each other at multilateral forums.

Egyptian Ambassador A. Salama expressed his gratitude to the Party, State and Government of Vietnam for creating favorable conditions and supporting the Ambassador to fulfill his duties. The Ambassador emphasized that the Egyptian high-ranking leaders highly value the traditional friendship between the two countries and wish to enhance the effectiveness of cooperation with Vietnam. Ambassador A. Salama affirmed that in his new role, he will continue to urge relevant agencies to closely coordinate with Vietnam to promote comprehensive relations between the two sides, especially in potential areas such as trade, investment, culture, people-to-people exchange, etc.

The Egyptian Ambassador highly appreciated Vietnam's role in promoting peace and stability in the region and the world, expressed his admiration and congratulated Vietnam on its impressive socio-economic achievements in recent times. The Ambassador expressed his belief that the Party, State and people of Vietnam will continue to gain greater victories in the cause of building and developing a prosperous and strong country, contributing to peace and stability in the region and the world.

On this occasion, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Bui Thanh Son delivered an invitation from President Luong Cuong to Egyptian President Abdel Fatah Al-Sisi to attend the signing ceremony of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime on October 25-26 in Hanoi. Ambassador A. Salama expressed his gratitude and affirmed that he would deliver the invitation to the Egyptian President.
