Previously, every morning and afternoon, the central area of Ha Tien agricultural market was always crowded, with people gathering to buy and sell everywhere. Many businesses displayed their goods, encroaching on the sidewalk, even spilling onto the road, setting up stalls and placing signs, causing urban disorder and posing a potential risk of traffic accidents.
This situation is common along major routes such as Tran Hau and Mac Thien Tich. In the eyes of tourists, this image makes Ha Tien somewhat leave a bad impression.
Authorities handle cases of intentional encroachment on sidewalks, roadsides and curbs at the center of Ha Tien market.
Head of the Economic , Infrastructure and Urban Department of Ha Tien Ward Chau Thanh Cuong said that, based on this reality, the locality requires organizations, individuals, business households and residents in the area to seriously implement the "5 no's" including: Do not encroach on sidewalks, roadsides, and curbs for illegal trading or parking; do not conduct business in violation of regulations, causing disorder and affecting the landscape; do not litter or discharge waste in the wrong place or at the wrong time; do not arbitrarily build or expand illegal structures on sidewalks and public areas; do not use roadsides, curbs, and curbs to organize parties.
“We also encourage people to voluntarily remove canopies, signs, obstacles... encroaching on public spaces and traffic safety corridors before July 25. After the notice period, the ward will inspect and strictly handle cases of intentional violations or repeat violations to build Ha Tien urban area to be more spacious, clean, beautiful and civilized,” said Mr. Chau Thanh Cuong.
After a period of mobilizing the people, the urban order situation in the ward has changed positively. Many businesses and traders voluntarily removed their roofs and signs, no longer encroaching on the sidewalk to display goods as before, leaving clear paths for pedestrians. The surrounding market area is neat and tidy, creating a sense of safety for both residents and tourists.
Mr. Ta Hong Set - a business owner in Ward 1 shared: “When I was informed by the authorities, I understood that encroachment on the roadside not only causes unsightliness but also affects traffic safety. I agreed to implement it because I think this is the right policy. The streets are now more open, customers can easily access goods, and trading is more convenient.”
The task of restoring urban order is not a temporary task but a long-term process, requiring the synchronous participation of the entire political system and the cooperation of the people. With the motto of "taking propaganda and mobilization as the foundation and handling as the fulcrum", in recent times, the ward has focused on propaganda and raising awareness of law compliance among the people, especially business households on central roads.
“We will continue to advise the Ward People's Committee to further promote propaganda and dissemination of regulations on sidewalk and road use; conduct regular and surprise inspections to detect and strictly handle cases of intentional violations and re-encroachment, ensuring safety for residents and tourists and contributing to building a civilized urban area,” added Mr. Chau Thanh Cuong.
Maintaining urban order contributes to ensuring traffic safety, urban beauty, and creating the image of a civilized, clean, beautiful, and friendly Ha Tien ward. This is also the foundation for Ha Tien to develop sustainably in the future.
