Mr. Aleksander Syrsky believes that the Russia-Ukraine military conflict is not only a conflict between people, but also between economies. In particular, the Western collective economy must help Ukraine, because Kiev has "spent" its most precious thing, which is people.

On February 13, the new Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Aleksander Syrsky, gave his first interview in his new position to the German television channel ZDF.

The Ukrainian newspaper Korrespondent quoted some of the main contents of the interview, in which the commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian army emphasized the role of technology on the front. Mr. Syrsky pointed out that the current military conflict has increased the role of technology in the army and in the process of armed struggle itself.

He said that remote-controlled ground robots have appeared on the battlefield to reduce casualties among soldiers, and assessed that this is a new stage of the war. However, he noted that Ukraine should not rely on weapons provided by the West, but should create its own weapons.

Commander-in-Chief Aleksander Syrsky also affirmed that Ukraine will not change the goals of the conflict and will strive to “go beyond its borders”.

According to him, this is how Ukraine will end the conflict with Russia, because “there is no other choice”.

Regarding casualties on the front, Mr. Syrsky stated that Russian casualties were 7-8 times greater than those of Ukraine.

The head of the Ukrainian military also said that the country's army has shifted from offensive to "defensive operations" to wear down the enemy's forces and cause the greatest damage to the enemy. Kiev is taking advantage of its technological advantages, drone forces, and electronic warfare to protect its existing defense lines.

However, the new Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian army did not give an assessment of the possible time of ending the conflict with Russia and affirmed that from the very beginning, Kiev had assumed - there is no clear time frame.

Earlier, after a visit to eastern Ukraine with Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, the new Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Alexander Syrsky assessed the situation in the frontline as very precarious.

“The operational situation is extremely complex and tense. The Russian occupation forces continue to intensify their efforts and have an advantage in personnel... We are doing everything possible to prevent the enemy from advancing deeper into our territory and to hold the captured positions,” Syrsky said in a statement on social media.

Commander-in-Chief Syrsky said he and Minister Umerov also visited Ukrainian forces in the area near the town of Kupiansk, where Russian troops are putting pressure on Ukrainian positions.

“Based on the results of the work, a number of important decisions were made to increase the combat capabilities of our military units and deter enemy actions,” Syrsky said.
