(NLDO) - Just by going out to sea a few nautical miles from shore in one night, each fishing boat of Canh Duong in Quang Binh caught more than 700 kg of shrimp, with the selling price reaching a record.

On January 27, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Tiep, Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Canh Duong Commune, Quang Trach District, Quang Binh Province - said that in the days before Tet, local fishermen had a big harvest of sea shrimp, selling at high prices, bringing in large revenues.
According to Mr. Tiep, the flow of sea shrimp has moved closer to shore in recent days, creating favorable conditions for fishermen to go out to sea. In just one day and night, each fishing boat has caught an average of 700 - 800 kg of sea shrimp. The fishing area is only 1 to 3 nautical miles from shore, so fresh shrimp can be easily brought back.
According to fishermen in Canh Duong coastal commune, this year, plankton appeared densely near the shore, attracting shrimp to find food. Although it was close to Tet, fishermen still took the opportunity to go out to sea to receive "sea luck". "Our boat has 4 people, caught 735kg of shrimp, sold at a good price, so everyone is excited to have more income" - fisherman Nguyen Tran Khoa said excitedly.
The shrimp caught by fishermen in Canh Duong commune (Quang Trach district, Quang Binh province) on this occasion is mainly turmeric shrimp, priced from 100,000 - 150,000 VND/kg.
It is known that the shrimp caught by fishermen is mainly black tiger shrimp, with a selling price of about 150,000 VND/kg depending on size. Each trip out to sea, the boats earn a profit of over 100 million VND.
According to the People's Committee of Canh Duong commune, the whole commune currently has 486 fishing boats. Compared to 2023, the number of fishing boats has decreased by 63. However, the number of boats participating in offshore fishing has increased to 207, an increase of 6 boats compared to the previous year. In 2024, the commune's marine aquatic product output reached 3,234 tons, with a revenue of more than 447 billion VND. Although the output decreased compared to the same period last year, thanks to the increase in seafood prices, the revenue was still higher than 87 billion VND.
