Book launch 'The Soviet Union and Vietnam during the Second Indochina War'

On June 20, in Moscow, the Russian Federation, the book launch ceremony of the Russian language book "The Soviet Union and Vietnam during the Second Indochina War 1959-1975: Collection of documents" took place.

The event, organized by the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences in collaboration with the Russian State Archive of Political and Social History, took place in the context of Russian President Vladimir Putin's state visit to Vietnam.

Attending the book launch ceremony were representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, the Embassy of Vietnam in the Russian Federation, ASEAN diplomatic missions in Moscow, the Russian Academy of Sciences and many Russian experts and scholars researching Vietnam.

This is a collection of documents selected and compiled from documents of the Federal Archives, the State Archive of Political and Social History of Russia, the State Archive of Contemporary History of Russia, the Foreign Policy Archive of the Russian Federation, the Department of History and Documents of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and the National Archives Center III (State Archives and Records Department, Ministry of the Interior of Vietnam).

The book consists of 137 documents that have been kept for nearly half a century; including resolutions, working minutes, tape recordings of exchanges between Soviet diplomats and Vietnamese colleagues...

The documents reflect the development of the Soviet Union's foreign policy strategy during the Second Indochina War in the period of 1959-1975, publishing for the first time the history of one of the most important events of the 20th century, which had a great impact on the entire system of international relations and world politics.

The book is intended for historians, political researchers, lecturers at higher education institutions, as well as many readers interested in Russian and Vietnamese history and international relations in the second half of the 20th century.
