On the morning of December 8, the Center for Women and Development under the Vietnam Women's Union, with technical support from the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women in Vietnam (UN Women), officially launched the Social Assistance Center - Peaceful House.

The Peace House is a model operated by the Center for Women and Development since 2007, when there was no Law on Prevention of Human Trafficking and Law on Prevention of Domestic Violence, with the aim of providing a safe, free shelter for women and children who are victims of domestic violence, sexual abuse and human trafficking.

After 17 years of operation, Peace House has directly supported more than 1,665 women and children who have suffered from gender-based violence and has increasingly proven its practicality and effectiveness.

To meet the urgent needs of women and children who are victims of violence in the new period, Peace House needs to change in terms of structure, functions and tasks.

On May 15, 2023, the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Hanoi City issued Operating License No. 02/GP-SLDTBXH to the Social Assistance Center - Peaceful House under the Center for Women and Development.

On May 19, 2023, the Department of Administrative Management of Social Order - Ministry of Public Security issued a Certificate of Seal Sample Registration to NNBY.

The transformation from a shelter to a social assistance center will create favorable conditions and legal basis for Peace House to strengthen connections and coordination in referrals, connections with functional ministries, service providers such as police, health , justice, lawyers, psychology, social assistance, vocational training and other related organizations and experts.

Also at the launching event of the Social Assistance Center - Peaceful House, the Center for Women's Development and UN Women launched the book "Going Towards Peace" edited by the Center for Women and Development and published by Women's Publishing House.

The book is 12 stories of women who suffered violence, abuse and human trafficking and received support from Peace House to overcome dark times and move towards a brighter future.
