The robot will major in theater and film for four years, with a focus on Peking Opera, a traditional Chinese art form. Xueba 01 is scheduled to enroll on September 14.

The robot will attend classes with other graduate students and will also have to complete course requirements like a regular student, including writing a thesis.

On social media, some netizens expressed doubts: “Theatrical and cinematic arts require creativity and high emotional content. Art also requires life experience. Works created by robots using algorithms cannot truly touch the human heart.”
This comment was forwarded to Xueba 01, who responded with light humor: “If I don’t graduate, Professor Yang said I’ll be donated to a museum. Sounds interesting. At least I’ll still be part of the art scene.”
Many people are excited about the appearance of Xueba 01, one netizen commented: “This robot is undertaking a milestone challenge in the relationship between humans and robots.
We have finally entered the stage of living, learning and working together with robots. I hope he will succeed.”
