'Russia's Rolls-Royce' wants to expand business

VnExpressVnExpress07/01/2024

Aurus, the luxury carmaker dubbed the 'Rolls-Royce of Russia', wants to sell more to more customers with cheaper models.

The luxury automaker known for making limousines for the Russian president plans to expand its product range by launching two more affordable and mass-market models, according to Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov.

Speaking to TASS news agency last week, Manturov said Aurus would add two sedans, a premium and a business version, by 2025. A new SUV could also appear, but not in the near future. "They will have different prices, be more affordable and be produced in more series," the Russian deputy prime minister said.

The luxury car line Aurus was established in 2013 by order of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade , with the aim of replacing the fleet of mostly foreign-made cars then used by top Russian officials.

The interior and exterior refinement and technical specifications of this car are similar to those of British luxury car manufacturer Rolls Royce. Aurus was officially launched at the inauguration of Russian President Vladimir Putin in May 2017.

However, Russia has decided to sell these luxury cars to the public both domestically and internationally. In December, Mr. Manturov announced that Aurus had started assembling the F-Class Senat sedan in Dubai (UAE) and was planning to open a dealership there.

“We are planning to expand to other countries. First, we will thoroughly consolidate our presence in the UAE, and then move forward,” Mr. Manturov said last year.

According to dealer Panavto, the starting price for the Aurus Senat sedan is $443,700 and $447,000 for the Aurus Komendant.
