The flight to test and evaluate flight methods to verify the safety of operations at Long Thanh airport has just been carried out, which will be the basis for carrying out technical flights at the end of December 2025 - a key milestone towards the official operation of Long Thanh International Airport.

The leader of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam said that the Authority has coordinated with the Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM), Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV), Air Traffic Management Technical Company Limited and related units to organize flights to evaluate the satellite navigation method since July 31.

Accordingly, the flight was carried out by a specialized Beechcraft King Air 350ER aircraft, departing from Tan Son Nhat Airport, performing an evaluation flight in Long Thanh airspace and returning to land at Tan Son Nhat.

Air Traffic Management Technical Company Limited (the unit performing the evaluation flight) has coordinated with the Southern Air Traffic Management Company, Long Thanh Project Management Board and Air Division 370 to agree on a coordination plan to deploy calibration inspection flights and flight method evaluation flights in Long Thanh to ensure completion of the approved plan; at the same time, signed a coordination document with the Aviation Meteorological Center to ensure meteorological information effectively serves the inspection and evaluation flight process.

The leaders of the Civil Aviation Authority said that the purpose of evaluating the navigation flight method based on satellite usage features is to check the quality of the method design, including evaluating aviation obstacle data, navigation data; the ability to perform flight operations according to design parameters; detecting interference sources affecting the quality of satellite signals; thereby ensuring safety, efficiency of flight operations and compliance with technical requirements and management regulations of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam.

“The evaluation of the satellite navigation method at Long Thanh Airport is not only a technical activity, but also a strong commitment to safety, efficiency and compliance with international standards in all aspects of operation. This is an important step in the preparation roadmap for the official operation of Long Thanh International Airport from 2026,” emphasized the leader of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam.

The evaluation flight results will be the basis for conducting technical flights at the end of December 2025 - a key milestone towards the official operation of Long Thanh International Airport, a national key project on air traffic, symbolizing the modern, synchronous and internationally integrated development of Vietnam's aviation industry.

The Civil Aviation Authority also acknowledged that the successful organization of the flight to evaluate the satellite navigation method is a clear demonstration of the determination and capacity of management agencies, operating units and aviation enterprises in the journey to build an airport on par with the region and the world .

Immediately after the flight method evaluation flight phase, flights to test and calibrate the navigation and aviation surveillance equipment system will continue to be deployed, serving the technical flight scheduled for the end of December 2025.

“All of this work aims to ensure that Long Thanh International Airport fully meets safety, technical and operational requirements, and is ready to receive the most modern aircraft, serving long-distance international routes and transit routes in Southeast Asia,” the leader of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam added./.
