Stage actors Hong Van and writer Nguyen Thi Minh Ngoc (pink shirt) on the groundbreaking day of the play "The Lost Woman"
On the morning of August 1, Hong Van Drama Theater officially started staging the play "Lost Woman" by author - writer Nguyen Thi Minh Ngoc. This is a work aimed at the 2025 International Experimental Theater Festival, scheduled to be held in November in Ninh Binh . Ho Chi Minh City has 7 art units participating in this festival.
The play will be directed by Meritorious Artist Le Nguyen Dat. He recently made a splash with the play "Another War" at the National Theater Festival on "The Image of the People's Public Security Soldier" (from June 24 to July 7 in Hanoi ).
After the beautiful milestone with the National Silver Medal for the play "Another War" - a modern stage work, Meritorious Artist Le Nguyen Dat continued to be trusted by People's Artist Hong Van and Hong Van Drama Theater to stage the play "The Lost Woman". This is not only a continuation of the artistic journey, but also a clear change in experimental thinking and innovation of the dramatic genre stage.
A return journey, a new look at Hong Van stage
The play "The Lost Woman" is not a completely new play. It was performed in New York (USA) in 2011, with the participation of famous artists such as Meritorious Artist Thanh Loc, People's Artist My Hang, the late Meritorious Artist Ngoc Dang, Leon Le, Dr. - Meritorious Artist Nguyen Thi Hai Phuong...
"The mark of that staging is the strong fusion between Vietnamese culture and international performance techniques - a standard that the International Experimental Theatre Festival now requires even higher" - said director and writer Nguyen Thi Minh Ngoc.

In 2025, returning under the direction of Meritorious Artist Le Nguyen Dat, the work promises to have a completely new look: full of experimentation, rich in visual and audio symbols, exploiting the psychological depth and memories of the characters through non-traditional theatrical techniques. The reconstruction is not intended to revive an old work, but to rediscover the human story of loss and wandering, through a new, contemporary theatrical language.
Hong Van Stage constantly renews itself and integrates with the world's modern theater trends. After "Another War" is born and entered into the competition, the work's promotion will officially start from the 1st August show at Hong Van Drama Stage.

This is a work with a political theme but is performed with a cinematic rhythm and youthful emotions - gaining recognition from experts at the National Theater Festival and actors: Minh Luan, Lam Vy Da (won gold medal), Lac Hoang Long, Bui Cong Danh (won silver medal)...
People's Artist Hong Van does not hide her ambition: "Hong Van Stage always wants to create opportunities for young actors so that they can go beyond the limits of a private performance venue, to bring experimental art to life, and to strongly integrate."
Choosing the work of Nguyen Thi Minh Ngoc and director Meritorious Artist Le Nguyen Dat shows that People's Artist Hong Van has placed her trust in a director who is persistent with the stage, dedicated to finding new things in the form of staging.
Testing is not just a formality
In the context of the current stage finding a way to reach young audiences, the concept of "experimental stage" is no longer a separate playground for groups of artists who only perform comedy for entertainment. It is a direction that can create a push if it knows how to put the element of "experimentation in the depth of content, not just a form of innovation" - as shared by Meritorious Artist and director Le Nguyen Dat.
Meritorious Artist Oc Thanh Van will participate in the play "The Lost Woman"
"The Lost Woman" is a complex terrain to try: the story of lostness, disorientation, and the fate of women searching for themselves in the vortex of memories and war - a difficult topic, but rich in theatrical potential.
This year's International Experimental Theatre Festival brings together many domestic and foreign art troupes, with high demands on creativity, cultural identity and staging techniques. With "The Lost Woman", Hong Van Theatre enters this playground with the mindset of learning, researching, and exploring new things to perfect its staging style in the international forum.
