LET TEACHER K WORRY LESS
"I see a reality of the current V-League that young players do not seem to be playing regularly. I really hope for a change. The VFF should influence or encourage teams to actively train young players more. In the near future, U.23 Vietnam will have many important international tournaments and I hope my students can maintain stable performance," Coach Kim Sang-sik shared with Thanh Nien Newspaper about the never-ending story of Vietnamese football: the precarious position of young players.

U.23 Vietnam has completed a hat-trick of winning the U.23 Southeast Asian Championship in 3 years (2022, 2023, 2025), however, success in the youth tournament comes from many factors such as peak performance, tactics, strategies, and even luck. This is just one of the prisms, unable to project the whole picture of youth football. The "health" of youth football needs to be further demonstrated by whether young players are regularly playing in the V-League or asserting themselves in the Vietnam national team?
From this perspective, coach Kim Sang-sik's worries are not unfounded. Of the 23 players Kim brought to the U.23 Southeast Asian tournament, the number of players who have played in all 15 matches in the V-League can be counted on the fingers of one hand: goalkeeper Trung Kien, center back Nhat Minh, Ly Duc, full back Phi Hoang, midfielder Van Truong, Thai Son, Van Thuan, Van Khang, striker Dinh Bac. The rest either play "supporting roles" in the V-League (like Van Binh, Minh Phuc, Ngoc My...), or play in the first division like Hieu Minh, Xuan Bac, Anh Quan, Quoc Viet.
If winning the U.23 Southeast Asian Championship meant a breakthrough in his career, then there would be no way that striker Quoc Viet, despite lifting the trophy three times, has yet to make a clear mark at the club. Midfielder Xuan Tien won the top scorer title at the U.23 Southeast Asian Championship 2023, but he was not selected by coach Kim in this tournament. Playing well in the youth team is only a necessary condition. The sufficient condition is to be given the opportunity, trained and used properly at the club. This issue, Mr. Kim has mentioned at least twice, is not under his control.
However, for players who are struggling to assert their position, the achievements at the 2025 U.23 Southeast Asian tournament are still a spiritual boost and a solid foundation for them to rise up. Under the coaching of Mr. Kim, there have been factors that have grown significantly in terms of competitive spirit, leadership qualities and tactical thinking. Next season, it is the U.23 faces that will help the V-League become more competitive.
V-League is waiting for DINH BAC , V EAT K HANG explodes
Dinh Bac is the most notable face of U.23 Vietnam in this tournament, because he enjoyed the feeling of reaching the top, then… falling down the slope in the national team when he was young. At the U.23 Southeast Asian playground, the young star of the Hanoi Police Club (CAHN) has been returned to his familiar position: leader of the attack, scoring, creating, acting as a wall and leading the play.
After the successful U.23 Southeast Asia tournament, Dinh Bac will return to the harsh reality of competition at CAHN Club. Facing the 21-year-old striker are "a sky full of stars" from domestic to foreign players, requiring Dinh Bac to try very hard to gain a foothold. However, he is still the most versatile and versatile runner at CAHN Club. In the season when the former V-League champion team has to play in 4 arenas, Dinh Bac will have the opportunity to show his ability.
Also facing fierce competition at CAHN Club is central defender Ly Duc. The new recruit from HAGL will compete with Viet Anh, Dinh Trong, Adou Minh, Janclesio and Hugo Gomes to become a pillar of the defense. Ly Duc is still very young, but if he trains well, the former HAGL player can be trusted by Coach Polking.
Viettel 's The Cong also owns many young faces worth watching such as Van Khang, Cong Phuong, Tuan Phong... With a good coach who discovers and polishes "rough gems", and a disciplined training philosophy like Velizar Popov, young players have an ideal springboard to assert themselves. In addition, there is Ninh Binh Club, the new "nursery" of V-League with a series of young shoots such as Quoc Viet, Anh Quan, Di Dan, Thanh Chung... Clubs that have always been famous for favoring young players such as Hanoi, HAGL, SLNA also join hands to bring hope for the U.23 heroes to have a new step forward in their careers.
