The landslide is about 33m long, the cause is determined to be strong currents from the East Sea and tidal influences.

On March 13, according to information from the Department of Irrigation and Construction Management (Department of Agriculture and Environment of Bac Lieu province), a landslide incident occurred on the west bank downstream of Nha Mat sluice (in Nha Mat ward, Bac Lieu city, Bac Lieu province).

The landslide location is on the west bank of the downstream of Nha Mat culvert (on the 30/4 canal, Nha Mat ward, Bac Lieu city).

The landslide is located on the west bank downstream of Nha Mat culvert (on the 30/4 canal, in Chom Xoai hamlet, Nha Mat ward). The landslide is 33m long, about 3m wide, and about 1.3m deep.

The initial cause was determined to be erosion from the strong currents from the East Sea and the influence of the tides that caused the landslide. Meanwhile, this area has a deep sliding arc but lacks a hard embankment protection system and weak canal banks.

The scene shows that cracks have appeared near the landslide area, and further landslides may occur if not reinforced promptly, posing a risk of cutting off rural traffic routes.

To promptly overcome the above landslide situation, the Irrigation and Construction Management Department coordinated with the People's Committee of Nha Mat Ward to put up signs and stretch warning ropes in the landslide area, as well as closely monitor the landslide process to promptly report to competent authorities.

Near the landslide area, many cracks appeared, landslides may continue, risking cutting off rural traffic routes.

According to the Department of Irrigation and Construction Management, it is necessary to reinforce the canal bank by placing cajuput piles outside.

Then, use soil sacks or sand sacks to recreate the canal roof and reinforce the gabion layer above within the landslide area to ensure temporary stability for the landslide area.

Along with that, speed up the repair of Nha Mat sewer cylinder system to open two sewer gates at the same time as soon as possible.

In the long term, it is necessary to soon invest in a hard embankment system to protect the entire area and ensure long-term stability for residents.
