Meeting Indonesia in the opening match of the first leg of SEA V.League 2025 is a good opportunity for the Vietnamese women's team to accumulate points, aiming to reach the final match, competing for the championship with Thailand.

Two days before the first round of SEA V.League 2025 kicks off in Thailand, the Vietnamese women's team is ready for what promises to be a very exciting and fierce match. This annual volleyball tournament brings together the top teams in Southeast Asia, namely Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia and the Philippines, competing in a round-robin format between four teams.

In the first round, which took place from August 1 to 3 in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, the Vietnamese women's team was considered the top candidate for the championship after being crowned queen at the AVC Nations Cup 2025 in June. The match against Indonesia in the opening round on August 1 was an opportunity for key players such as Thanh Thuy, Bich Tuyen and their teammates to affirm the position and strength of the Vietnamese women's team. After passing this "gate", the journey to the "final match" with host Thailand will become more spacious for coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet's team.

Like Vietnam, the Indonesian team, although never winning the SEA V.League, is still considered a formidable force. After being absent from the AVC Nations Cup due to family reasons, captain Megawati Pertiwi returned in time to strengthen the attacking power of the archipelago's women's team. Indonesia has a fast, fast-attacking and well-coordinated playing style, deserving the respect of all opponents, including Vietnam.

The runner-up achievement in the 2019 and 2022 SEA V.League shows Indonesia's formidable potential, although the team still lacks stability in defense and is quite inexperienced in major tournaments. The absence of young striker Junaida Santi, who is considered to be able to share the scoring responsibility with captain Megawati Pertiwi, is truly regrettable but unavoidable. This promising 18-year-old striker is given a rest to recover his strength so that he can fully focus on the upcoming U21 World Championship in Indonesia in August 2025.

According to experts, the Vietnamese women's team will have the advantage thanks to their balanced squad and superior experience. Meanwhile, Indonesia can cause difficulties with their attacks in positions 2 and 4. This regional tournament is an important step towards qualifying for the 2026 AVC Nations Cup.
