On March 19, 2023, Mr. Toshiya Miura was selected to take the position of coach of Thailand U20 under the "New Era" project between Buriram Football Academy and the Football Association of Thailand (FAT).

The aim of this project is to find the 20 best 17-year-old players to train within 3 years and aim for the U20 Asian tournament.

Furthermore, FAT wants this group of players to compete for tickets to the 2025 U20 World Cup.

There was a time when Thai fans called this the "Super Plan" to develop Thai football.

But unfortunately, this plan quickly fell apart due to many problems. At the same time, Buriram and FAT also decided to part ways with the Japanese coach.

It is worth mentioning that Mr. Miura is also one of many Japanese strategists who were fired by Thailand's top football team in 2023.

Previously, Buriram parted ways with coach Masatada Ishii. The club's academy also terminated the contract with coach Masayuki Miura, who is considered a legend with many achievements in youth tournaments.

In the past, coach Toshiya Miura led the U23 and Vietnam national team from 2014 to 2016.

During his tenure, the coach born in 1963 helped Vietnam win the bronze medal at the 28th SEA Games, third place at the 2014 AFF Cup and qualify for the 2016 U23 Asian Cup.

In March 2016, Mr. Miura was fired by the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) because of the poor performance of the Vietnamese team in the second qualifying round of the 2018 World Cup.

In 2018, the former head coach of the Vietnam national team came to lead Ho Chi Minh City Club but he was also fired after only 1 season.
