The international scientific conference Teaching and researching Portuguese: theory and practice” organized by Hanoi University in collaboration with the Camões Institute (Portugal) and the Guimarães Rosa Institute (Brazil) recently took place in Hanoi.

The conference aims to connect researchers in the fields of language, language teaching methods, specialized teaching in foreign languages, translation and interpretation, to discuss theoretical and practical issues in teaching Portuguese in Vietnam and around the world , cultural and technological issues in teaching Portuguese, as well as opportunities and challenges for teaching Portuguese in the digital age.

Delegates focused on discussing the main contents such as: theory-methodology of language and language teaching; intercultural communication; theoretical and practical issues of teaching Portuguese language and culture in the digital age - applying technology in teaching Portuguese as a foreign language/second language; international cooperation in research and teaching Portuguese; quality assurance in Portuguese language training.

At the conference, the leaders of Hanoi University said that the employment rate of students majoring in rare languages (Portuguese, Spanish, Italian...) after graduation is quite good, reaching 90-92%. For example, many 3rd and 4th year Portuguese students have found jobs.
