World No. 1 Jannik Sinner got off to a good start at Wimbledon when he easily defeated compatriot Luca Nardi in three sets with a score of 6-4, 6-3, 6-0.

After the match, Sinner spoke frankly about the public's reaction to his doping ban, admitting that "at first people looked at me differently".

Jannik Sinner says he was viewed in "different ways" after returning from a doping ban, but now has a "good relationship" with most players on tour.

Sinner has not missed a Grand Slam tournament during his ban and is currently competing at Wimbledon in 2025, aiming to win his fourth Grand Slam title.

"I think people have kind of forgotten what happened. That's the good and bad side of social media. People often don't remember what happened yesterday. I'm on good terms with most of the players," Sinner said after his Wimbledon first-round win over Luca Nardi.

"Of course, people looked at me differently at first. But I think they all saw that I was a very clean player. I never had any bad intentions. I always tried to be the best I could be, have a good team around me. That's exactly what I'm trying to do in the future.

The things I can control, I will control both on and off the field. It was an accident, it happened. But the result also shows that I did not do anything on purpose."

World No. 1 Sinner was banned for three months earlier in 2025 after testing positive for doping twice in 2024.

Although the 23-year-old tennis player has always maintained his innocence, his suspension has caused a stir in the tennis world with many controversies.

Since returning to competition, Sinner has been involved in one of the greatest matches of all time against Carlos Alcaraz in the 2025 Roland Garros final, losing. Sinner admits to having sleepless nights after that loss, but it is a fond memory.

Sinner will enter the second round of Wimbledon 2025, facing Aleksandar Vukic. Meanwhile, his opponent in the same bracket, Novak Djokovic, also had a favorable start when he defeated Muller with a score of 3-1.
